What to pack for a safari...

  • Passport(s)
  • Unabridged birth certificate for minors
  • Driver’s licence and/or international driver’s licence
  • Travel Itinerary
  • Travel Insurance
  • Tickets and Documents
  • Atlas and/or map in case the GPS loses signal
  • Some cash for emergency or park entrance fees.
  • T-shirt, shirt or blouse – long sleeves and collars help to protect from the sun and mosquitoes
  • Fleece or warm jacket
  • Safari trousers – those that zip off at the knees are ideal
  • Comfortable walking shoes (or boots) and socks
  • Hat / cap
  • Sunglasses
  • Bandanna and / or cotton scarf
  • Swimsuit –  a number of lodges and camps have swimming pools
  • Raincoat, fleece and safari jacket
  • A jacket for the chilled morning and evening game drives
  • Comfortable walking shoes and socks (or sandals if you do not go on bush walks)
  • Especially in the morning and in the evening it is advisable to wear long sleeves
  • Note: colours should be earth, neutral toned and loose fitting. Bright colours and busy patterns should be avoided.
  • Sunscreen and after sun (advisable 30+)
  • Lip Balm
  • Antiseptic gel and/or disinfectant wipes
  • Paper tissues
  • Mosquito repellent
  • Malaria pills (if required)
  • Antihistamines for bug bites and/or allergic reactions
  • Painkillers
  • Diarrhoea medications & probiotics
  • Antiseptic cream or liquid
  • Different size plasters
  • Camera, lenses and cleaning device
  • Spare camera battery
  • Binoculars
  • AA & AAA batteries
  • Databank to charge phone and other devices
  • Small flashlight and / or headtorch
  • Swiss knife (do not forget to remove it from your hand luggage when traveling by plane
