Located in the scenic Namib-Naukluft National Park, Sossusvlei is where you will find the iconic red sand dunes of the Namib. The clear blue skies contrast with the giant red dunes to make this one of the most scenic natural wonders of Africa and a photographer’s heaven. This awe-inspiring destination is possibly Namibia’s premier attraction, with its unique dunes rising to almost 400 metres-some of the highest in the world.
After arrival depart Windhoek for your lodge in the Namib Desert. This is the gateway to Sesriem Canyon and Sossusvlei where some of the highest sand dunes on earth stand towering over the white desert plains.
After breakfast off to an early start. The first rays of sunrise paint the mountains of sand into a variety of apricot, red and orange contrasted against a crisp blue skyline providing the perfect opportunity to capture this awesome landscape. Be mesmerized by the surreal Deadvlei surrounded by the highest dunes and Sossusvlei where the mostly dry Tsauchab River ends abruptly amongst majestic dunes. Take the opportunity to walk up one of these dunes to admire the desert landscape beneath. Later visit the Sesriem Canyon, a life sustaining natural phenomenon in the heart of the Namib Desert.
After breakfast travel via the rolling hills of the Kuiseb Moon Valley towards the Atlantic Ocean. Reaching the coastal harbour town of Walvis Bay. Visit the shallow lagoon, one of the most important wetland areas on the African continent and a RAMSAR World Heritage Site. Over 80% of the African flamingos feed in this lagoon and present a breath-taking picture when they appear in groups. Continue along scenic road along the Atlantic Ocean to reach Swakopmund. Your guide will take you out to dinner at a local Swakopmund restaurant.
After breakfast head for a fabulous cruise. The catamaran team invites you aboard one of their fantastic catamarans to enjoy an adventure packed tour to Pelican Point and Walvis Bay’s. The chances of encountering dolphins, whales, turtles, seals and mola mola sunfish make the search for the marine big 5 an adventurous tour whilst enjoying sparkling wine, fresh oysters and other mouth-watering snacks aboard the spacious and comfortable catamarans.
Today after breakfast travel towards the Etosha National Park famous for its vast amount of wildlife and unique landscape. On the way visit a typical Himba village and get to know the traditional lifestyle of this fascinating indigenous people. Afterwards continue to the National Park for overnight at the lodge.
After breakfast depart the camp after a leisurely breakfast and head out towards the eastern exit of the park. It is game drive at the park for the entire day with a stop at one of the camps in the park for lunch.
This day is devoted purely to the abundant wildlife found in the Etosha National Park, which surrounds a parched salt desert known as the Etosha Pan. The park is home to elephant, lion, leopard and rhino. Game viewing in the park is best around the waterholes the ideal places to sit and watch over 114 different game species and 340 bird species. Admire giraffes, blue wildebeest, plains, mountain zebras, hyenas, lions, leopards, antelopes and endangered species like the black rhino, cheetahs and the black-faced impala.
After a leisurely breakfast leave Mushara Outpost and make your way to the Kavango region which is known for its magnificent woodlands and perennial rivers. The area is dominated by the Kavango River and its broad flood plains making for a lush green surrounding.
Today after breakfast leave the lodge for Caprivi. Jutting out from the north eastern part of Namibia, it links the country to Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana. Caprivi is surrounded by 4 perennial rivers, the Chobe, Kwando, Linyanti and the mighty Zambezi. These waterfront areas combine riverine forests with vast wetlands, attracting over 600 species of bird, and are home to 4 National Parks, the Bwabwata, Nkasa Rupara, Mudumu and Mahango.
After breakfast several interesting activity option at the lodge await. From a boat safari, at the Okavango river to game drives and village tours an adventure filled day lies ahead.
After breakfast start your journey towards Botswana. The drive leads through the town of Katima Mulilo before getting to the border between Namibia and Botswana. After arriving in Kasane, your Namibian guide will drop you off at Chobe Safari Lodge in time to get ready for the river cruise in the afternoon.
This morning after breakfast is the best time for an early morning drive. Chobe National Park is the one of the few parks where one can see the African Wild Dogs in their environment and the best times to spot them is on a morning game drive. Today your guide will start making his way back to Windhoek.
After breakfast today, a full day visit to Victoria Falls awaits. You return in the late afternoon back to the lodge after spending the day in Victoria Falls with many choices of various activities there.
Today is the last day of your South African Adventure.
After breakfast our english speaking driver will transfer you back to the Airport for your flight back home.
